McLaren Medicaid VPay Cards: Request ACH or a Check

By George Ruan • October 9, 2026

As of October 10, 2026. McLaren’s current provider resources still link its November 2022 Optum VPay payment notice. This guide focuses on McLaren Medicaid/Healthy Michigan payments. The notice covers all McLaren lines, but your actual plan, billing entity and payment preference still need to match. McLaren Optum VPay update, November 2022 McLaren current provider resources.

Why McLaren sends VPay cards

The dated notice says existing ACH recipients keep their payment delivery, while providers without ACH receive virtual cards. It describes one-time cards processed through an existing merchant terminal, with remittance advice where applicable. The 2022 launch date is historical; it is not a new enrollment deadline. How to request ACH or paper checks

  1. Use the published payment support number. After receiving the first virtual-card payment, call Payment Services Support at 888-477-0067. McLaren explicitly lists ACH and checks as alternatives. McLaren Optum VPay update, November 2022.

  2. Confirm the payment and election. Recommended: identify the McLaren product and billing location on the notice, ask which future payments the change covers, and request written fee terms and an effective date. The notice does not publish a universal fee percentage or say that ACH is free.

  3. Ask about the card already issued. Recommended: get separate instructions for the outstanding card before processing it. Confirm whether a replacement will be issued and avoid posting both as independent claim payments.

Check the next remittance

Recommended: compare the payer remittance, bank deposit and any merchant statement. Save the support reference and check the next payment’s delivery method. Portal access alone is not your acceptance test: the deposit or check must match the election and the remittance.

If a fee was already charged

Ask the merchant processor to explain the settlement charge, then ask payment support about future delivery. Do not assume the payer’s allowed amount changed because the merchant deposited less, or promise that switching methods reverses the prior fee.
