Excellus InstaMed EFT/ERA: Check Your Payment Route

By George Ruan • October 9, 2026

As of October 9, 2026. InstaMed lists Excellus BlueCross BlueShield under payer ID 12B37 on its Integrated ERA/EFT payer list. Start with that payment-network list and the official provider enrollment link when checking a free EFT/ERA route. Official payment instructions.

Open InstaMed provider ERA/EFT enrollment for a new payer-payment account, or InstaMed Online for Providers for an existing account. Confirm the product limits below before applying.

Which payments use this route?

A network listing establishes an available payment connection; it does not prove that every Excellus product or provider is currently paid that way. Confirm your product and billing entity with Excellus before changing a live payment arrangement. Check the payer instructions.

Card fees, checks and no-fee EFT

Excellus’s dental guidebook describes InstaMed for participating dentists and separate Zelis options. It says Zelis ACH has a fee/contract and virtual cards incur standard credit-card fees. Those statements are dental-specific evidence. They do not establish the same enrollment rules or default card method for a therapy practice. Review the source before choosing a method.

How to enroll and keep remittances connected

  1. Check the Integrated ERA/EFT list. Find Excellus and payer ID 12B37 on InstaMed’s payment list. Use that list rather than a generic eligibility or claims-connectivity list to identify a payer-payment connection. Official instructions.

  2. Confirm the product-specific route. If your notice names Zelis, ask Excellus whether the InstaMed route applies to your provider/product. Participating-dentist documentation alone cannot answer this for medical or behavioral-health payments. Official instructions.

  3. Open provider payer-payment enrollment. Use InstaMed’s ERA/EFT overview and its registration link. Keep the application focused on payer payments; the practice owner or an authorized employee must submit it. Official instructions.

Enter the practice information

The 2026 Brown & Toland provider manual illustrates InstaMed’s business-information screen: legal business name, address, principal or officer details, and billing provider information. Use the practice’s records and follow the current application prompts. These are shared InstaMed registration illustrations, not this payer’s claim portal. The manual was revised September 2025; screens may change. Enrollment screen guide.

Enter the bank account for EFT

The next illustrated enrollment screen asks for the bank name, routing number, account number and account-number confirmation. Enter the practice’s intended deposit account and follow the current verification requirements. The example check and contact address in the crop are covered. Bank-information screen guide.

InstaMed’s application permits only the owner or an authorized employee to complete registration; third-party enrollment is not allowed. Your biller can help prepare records and use separate delegated access after setup. Registration terms.

Verify the first payment

As an operational check, compare the bank deposit with the corresponding ERA or EOP, confirm the billing entity and payment reference, and check that your billing system received the remittance. InstaMed provides portal remittance access and a supported-clearinghouse list. ERA and remittance overview; supported ERA clearinghouses.

If enrollment or a payment is still missing

Recommended next check: If you already receive a card or fee-based transfer, identify the vendor and the agreement that produced the charge before requesting a change. Keep the current remittance destination working until the payer confirms how the new route will apply. Do not assume changing vendors cancels a prior agreement. Payer payment guidance; InstaMed provider support.

What if a fee was already taken?

Keep the remittance, merchant settlement or vendor statement, and enrollment confirmation. Ask the entity that actually charged the fee about its refund policy and ask the payer/vendor to confirm the method for future payments. Do not assume that a new enrollment reverses an earlier fee, or that a smaller settlement means the payer owes another full payment. For the general card-versus-ACH distinction, read the InstaMed virtual-card fee guide.

The sources used here do not establish that. The explicit Zelis card and ACH fee discussion cited in this guide is in Excellus’s dental guidebook.
