OhioRISE Network Enrollment for Therapists
By George Ruan • October 9, 2026
To join the OhioRISE provider network, start with Aetna Better Health of Ohio’s OhioRISE network page. It requires an active Ohio Medicaid provider ID before joining and directs network inquiries to OHRISE-Network@Aetna.com or 1-833-711-0773.
For a therapist, the workflow is state enrollment, separate OhioRISE participation, then member- and service-specific checks. Public sources were checked October 9, 2026. A working PNM login or a contract with a general Medicaid MCO is not a substitute for confirming OhioRISE participation.

Which youth and services belong to OhioRISE?
ODM’s current FAQ describes Medicaid-eligible youth aged 0–20 at enrollment with qualifying behavioral health needs assessed through the Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) process; it also identifies a qualifying behavioral health hospitalization route. Do not assume every child with Medicaid is enrolled. OhioRISE eligibility FAQ.
ODM describes OhioRISE as working alongside a youth’s regular Medicaid coverage, with care coordination and additional services for significant or complex needs. Therapists can make referrals; enrollment and the service benefit still need confirmation before choosing the claim route. ODM September 2026 OhioRISE update.
Use the Ohio Medicaid eligibility guide to check the service date. If the record lists both OhioRISE and another plan, clarify which administrator covers the intended service rather than treating the two names as duplicate insurance.
Keep the Ohio Medicaid provider record active
Aetna’s join-network page makes the active state ID a prerequisite. Use the existing therapist enrollment guide for initial enrollment and the 2026 revalidation guide for an existing noticed record.
Before contacting the network team, organize the billing entity, individual clinicians, NPIs, Medicaid numbers, service locations and intended services. This is a practical preparation list, not a claim that the public page requires one universal attachment package.
Request OhioRISE network participation separately
Contact OHRISE-Network@Aetna.com or call 1-833-711-0773 using the current network page. Ask for the process that fits an individual therapist, a group or an added clinician/location. The page links sample provider agreements but does not promise acceptance or a fixed contracting turnaround. Current OhioRISE network contact.
Ask which billing entity and rendering clinicians the proposed participation covers.
Confirm whether each intended service location and specialty is included.
Request the current agreement, payment terms and any required enrollment information through the team’s approved process.
Confirm effective participation before representing the practice as in network.
Use those questions to make the response reviewable. Keep state credentialing and plan contracting distinct, as explained in the Ohio credentialing-versus-contracting article.
CANS assessment work has separate qualifications
ODM’s FAQ distinguishes a therapist treating an enrolled youth from a certified CANS assessor. Providers planning to bill CANS assessments must follow the certification, Medicaid enrollment specialty and CANS IT-system requirements. Ordinary network participation does not establish assessor qualification. CANS assessor requirements.
If your practice will only provide outpatient therapy, describe that service to the network team. Do not select a CANS specialty solely because a youth’s eligibility involved a CANS assessment.
Prepare authorization and claims access
Use the current OhioRISE authorization resources for the actual service and level of care. The existing Ohio behavioral health authorization guide covers the broader 2026 changes; this article does not assume all outpatient care is exempt.
Aetna’s claims page routes online submission through Availity’s Medicaid Claim Submission – Office Ally option and requires an Office Ally account. Its current manual lists medical payer ID 45221. Claim access, EFT/ERA setup and effective network participation answer different questions. OhioRISE online claims instructions.
For electronic routing, use the Ohio MCO and OhioRISE payer-ID guide and the OhioRISE provider manual. Confirm that the billing system identifies OhioRISE rather than a different Aetna product.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Ohio Medicaid ID automatically enroll me in the OhioRISE network?
No. Aetna’s network page requires an active state ID before joining, then directs providers to a separate OhioRISE network process. Confirm effective participation for the entity, clinicians and locations.
Who should a therapist contact to join OhioRISE?
The current official page lists OHRISE-Network@Aetna.com and 1-833-711-0773. Ask which process applies to your individual or group participation.
Must every OhioRISE therapist be a CANS assessor?
Do not equate therapy network participation with CANS assessor qualification. If billing CANS assessments, follow the separate state certification, enrollment specialty and IT-system requirements.
