Availity Access: Missing Remittances and Fee Schedules

By George Ruan • October 25, 2026

A working Availity login does not prove your billing user can open a payer’s claims, remittances or contracted rates. Start with the tool and billing entity Bomi names in your request.

Instructions checked October 25, 2026 against the official sources below. Menu names can change; use the stated support route if your screen differs.

Before you start

  • Ask the practice’s Availity administrator to make the change. Have the existing biller user ID, organization name, payer/state, billing TIN and requested tool from Bomi’s message ready. If the user ID is missing, ask Bomi for it rather than guessing.

  • Keep an existing working user and organization. An invitation sent, an invitation accepted and a payer tool working are separate milestones. Do not create a duplicate organization to fix a missing tool.

1. Check organization membership and roles

  1. Sign in with your own account at essentials.availity.com. Confirm the selected practice organization matches the billing entity in the request.

  2. For a new member, use Manage My Organization → Manage My Teams → Invite Users. For an existing user, locate that user in the team-management area and review Assign Roles. Use the exact named identity supplied by Bomi.

  3. Assign the roles needed for the requested work and save. Use the linked invitation guide for illustrated instructions. A payer-specific restriction can remain after the organization roles are correct.

2. Remittance Viewer or claim status is missing

  1. Open Claims & Payments and check the requested Claim Status or Remittance Viewer application. If it is absent, the administrator must check the user’s roles.

  2. If the application opens but your organization needs verification, follow the payer-specific verification prompts using a real remittance for that same billing entity. A check/EFT reference, payment amount and date may be required; do not substitute an unrelated payer or entity.

  3. When no usable remittance exists or the payer is unavailable, use Help & Training → Availity Support → Contact Support. Ask which role, organization verification or payer registration is missing. Bomi can pursue the payer directly or use an exact-visit EOB you upload securely.

3. A fee schedule is missing

  • Aetna: open the Aetna tools for the relevant entity, but check tool eligibility first. Aetna’s physician fee-schedule tool excludes behavioral health providers who are not MDs/DOs. Do not ask a therapist to keep changing permissions or obtain a PIN to overcome that exclusion. Bomi must use supported payer rate evidence instead.

  • Anthem, BCBS, Regence and UMR: the plan, state, provider type and contract determine the available tool. An administrator can fix missing user access; a role change cannot create a contract or make an unsupported tool available. Do not copy one state’s menu path to another.

  • If the administrator can open the exact tool and Bomi cannot, compare the user’s access. If neither can, use the support request below before sending another invitation.

What to ask support

“Our existing billing user can sign in to [organization], but cannot open [exact tool] for [payer/state and billing entity]. The administrator [can/cannot] open it. Please identify the required role or verification, confirm whether our provider type can use this tool, and give us the steps to enable it.” Use the official support channel for identifiers; leave patient information out of ordinary email.

Availity Client Services is 800-282-4548. Ask Bomi to provide the exact user and task if its request does not include them.

How to know it worked

Tell Bomi which organization and tool you enabled. Bomi should sign in with its own user and verify that the intended payer tool works for the correct billing entity. An “invite sent” reply alone does not establish that result.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does inviting my biller enable every payer tool?

No. Organization membership, user roles, payer verification and tool eligibility are separate checks.

What if I cannot find the requested tool?

Have your administrator compare their own access with the biller’s, then ask Availity support to identify the required role, verification or restriction.
