TriWest EFT Enrollment: Fix Remittance Validation
By George Ruan • October 7, 2026
Last reviewed: October 7, 2026.
Availity will not take a TRICARE West EFT enrollment until you prove you already received a TriWest payment. It asks for the check or EFT trace number, payment amount, and check date from a prior remittance, entered through Remit Viewer. Use the most recent TriWest remittance you have. If the practice has never been paid by TriWest, the online route will not work yet; use the paper enrollment package instead.
This follows TriWest’s ERA/EFT enrollment instructions and what we saw in the live Availity enrollment flow in October 2026. Portal labels change, so reopen the official instructions if a screen looks different.

Where the Block Appears
The TriWest provider handbook routes EFT through Availity: My Providers, Enrollments Center, Transaction Enrollment. After you choose the provider, the TRIWEST - TRICARE (99726) health plan, and Electronic Funds Transfer, Continue stops with a requirement to validate the provider’s payment information through Remit Viewer first.
Linking the group in Availity’s Manage My Organization does not clear this step. The payment validation is a separate prerequisite.
Clear the Validation
Find a recent TriWest remittance. Availity recommends one from the last 30 days, or the most recent you have. It must be for the same billing provider you are enrolling.
Copy three values from it. The check or EFT trace number, the total payment amount, and the check date. Use the payment total, not one claim line.
Enter them in Remit Viewer. Under Claims & Payments, open Remit Viewer, then Manage Access and Get Access.
Return to Transaction Enrollment. Select TRICARE only, unless you intend to cover VA Community Care Network too. An EFT or ERA request can apply to both programs unless you specify, so check the scope on the review screen. TriWest’s guide also describes an ERA-first sequence when TRICARE is selected alone.
If validation still fails, compare the remittance’s provider with the one selected. A bank statement’s short description is usually not the trace number the screen wants.
No TriWest Payment Yet? Use the Paper Package
Do not borrow another provider’s remittance. The validation exists to tie the bank account to the right payee.
TriWest’s EFT/ERA page offers a PGBA enrollment package for providers who cannot enroll online. From the package:
It asks for the practice’s legal name, address, tax ID, billing NPI, a contact, an authorized signature, and a voided check or bank letter.
A new enrollment still asks for a recent PGBA check number, so ask support how to proceed if you have none.
PGBA says a complete submission is reviewed in roughly 30 days, a mailed affidavit must be returned to finish, and EFT starts seven days after processing.
Changing or cancelling an existing EFT requires the hard-copy form, and each billing NPI needs its own request.
TriWest’s West Region EDI assistance page lists 1-800-259-0264 for help. Have the provider identifiers, the program, and the exact error ready.
Payment Setup Is Not Network Status
EFT approval says nothing about whether you are TRICARE-authorized or in TriWest’s network. Keep that on the separate authorized versus in-network track. The general version of this mix-up is covered in ERA Enrollment Approved: Are You In-Network Yet?.
Where Bomi Fits
When Bomi sets up TriWest direct deposit, the one thing we usually need from the practice is a recent remittance; we handle the Availity steps. Learn more about our billing services.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does Availity ask for a remittance before TriWest EFT?
It verifies that the provider enrolling has actually been paid by TriWest before allowing bank details to be attached. Without a prior payment, use the paper package.
Does validating a remittance enroll me in EFT?
No. It only unlocks the enrollment. You still have to submit the EFT request and confirm it is approved.
