Spring Health EAP Billing: Spring Practice Invoices and Claims
By George Ruan • October 22, 2026
Public guidance reviewed October 22, 2026. US therapy-practice billing; documentation review, not a live claim submission.
Spring Health can involve employer-sponsored EAP appointments, insurance clients and private-pay care within Spring Practice. Those categories can share an interface while using different financial arrangements. Before posting a payment or creating an outside claim, confirm which category applies to that specific session.

EAP reimbursement starts with the platform record
Spring Health’s current Spring Practice page says EAP and Private Practice line items appear in the invoice, and that Spring Health handles insurance credentialing, enrollment and claims for its insurance arrangements. Its 2024 provider walkthrough describes the Pay tab, invoice review and approval, and the relationship to signed notes. Spring Practice provider walkthrough.
Use the current provider instructions in your account to complete required documentation, review the session information and approve or submit the reimbursement record. The public walkthrough illustrates the workflow; it is not a current screen-by-screen manual or a universal approval deadline for every provider contract.
EDI payer ID and modifier configuration
The public Spring Practice resources reviewed here do not establish a universal EAP 837P payer ID, HJ requirement or code set for clinicians to transmit independently. For a Spring Health-managed visit, follow the assigned platform process. A downstream insurer’s claim destination is not automatically the destination for your EAP invoice.
When your account requires service codes, confirm them against the current service and billing instructions. Do not assume the words “EAP session” require 99404 or HJ. Confirm what the platform handles and what, if anything, your practice is responsible for transmitting separately.
Review the invoice before approving it
Identify whether each item is EAP, insurance or private pay. Do not apply the same expected payment or client responsibility to all three.
Compare the appointment date, provider and delivered service with the invoice. Resolve missing or duplicate appointments before creating a second bill.
Complete the required notes and other reimbursement prerequisites in the account’s current workflow. A finished visit is not proof that its payment record is complete.
Check any cancellation or no-show line against the actual event and the contract. A client-facing cancellation fee and a clinician’s compensation for that event are separate questions.
When employer-sponsored sessions run out
Spring Health’s current member coverage page says eligible clinical services can route to insurance on file after sponsored care is exhausted. That transition can change the member’s responsibility. Its provider page also describes options for private-practice continuity; those depend on the agreement and client setup. Spring Health session costs and coverage.
For US members using insurance, Spring Health’s billing-cycle page says it submits a claim after the session and later bills the plan-determined patient share. That is a member-facing insurance cycle, not a promise that a clinician receives payment on the same timetable. Member billing-cycle guidance.
Confirm the intended continued-care route and cost with the client before the next appointment. Do not independently submit the same Spring-managed visit to the insurer simply because the client’s insurance card is also stored in your external EHR.
Follow up on the specific missing payment
Use the invoice period, session date and submitted or approved status when contacting provider support. Distinguish an unapproved item, an excluded item, a processing issue and a payment that arrived but was not allocated in your ledger. Verify the provider agreement’s invoice cutoff and compensation terms rather than borrowing a member statement timeline.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Spring Health publish one EAP payer ID for every therapist to use?
No universal clinician-to-clearinghouse EAP ID is established by the public Spring Practice sources reviewed here. Follow the assigned platform billing process and confirm any separate filing responsibility.
Is Spring Health’s member insurance-statement timing my clinician payment schedule?
No. Member claim processing and cost-share billing are separate from the provider invoice and compensation terms. Check your provider agreement and payment record.
