Lyra Health Billing: Provider Claims, Benefits and EDI Questions
By George Ruan • October 22, 2026
Public guidance reviewed October 22, 2026. US therapy-practice billing; documentation review, not a live claim submission.
A Lyra appointment can be employer-sponsored care, care accessed through a medical plan or a separately established self-pay arrangement. The word “claim” can describe two different transactions: the provider’s request for payment to Lyra, and Lyra’s claim to an insurer. Identifying who submits each one is the first billing task.

What Lyra’s published payment terms establish
Lyra’s cost-share terms describe the provider submitting a request for payment to Lyra after covered services. Where care is accessed through a medical plan, Lyra or its subcontractor may then submit the insurer claim, and Lyra collects the applicable member cost share. Those terms are not a provider portal manual. Lyra Cost Share Terms and Conditions.
That supports keeping provider reimbursement and downstream insurance processing separate. Before your practice transmits anything outside the assigned Lyra workflow, confirm whether Lyra is already submitting it. Do not create a second insurer claim merely because the client has a medical insurance card.
Lyra Engage and the provider submission route
Lyra identifies provider.lyrahealth.com as its provider portal, also called Lyra Engage. Use the provider instructions supplied with your agreement and authenticated account for the exact reimbursement steps, required documentation and support channel. Lyra’s portal identification in its privacy policy.
The public sources reviewed for this guide do not establish a universal sequence of invoice buttons, a universal provider filing deadline or a universal payment cadence. Confirm those in the current provider resources before the first payable appointment. An old screenshot or another therapist’s agreement may describe a different workflow.
EDI destination, CPT codes and special modifiers
No universal Lyra EAP payer ID or required HJ configuration is established by these public sources. Do not route a Lyra-sponsored appointment to the patient’s medical payer or borrow Optum’s EWS codes solely because both programs are employer benefits.
If your current Lyra form requests CPT, diagnosis, modality, duration or authorization information, enter the supported service values according to that program’s instructions. If a separate electronic claim is specifically assigned to your practice, obtain its destination and required fields in writing. Keep the claim configuration tied to the actual benefit.
Questions to resolve during provider onboarding
Where does the provider request for payment get submitted, and what event makes it complete?
Which appointment, member and benefit references must accompany the session? How are remaining employer-sponsored visits confirmed?
Which services, lengths, modifiers and modalities are payable under this agreement? Is any prior approval required?
What is the provider filing cutoff, invoice or claim review process, correction route and expected payment schedule?
Who submits any downstream insurer claim, and who collects the client’s verified share?
Reconciling payment without charging the client twice
Match the session to the reimbursement record submitted to Lyra, then to payment received. If the payment is missing, identify whether the provider request is incomplete, still being processed or already paid to a different entity under a group arrangement. Preserve the original submission reference while resolving the issue.
Lyra also publishes separate self-pay terms. Switching to that arrangement needs an established payment plan and client understanding; it should not happen simply because staff cannot find a program claim or because the member’s sponsored visit balance has reached zero. Lyra self-pay terms.

Frequently Asked Questions
Should I file a second claim with the insurer after submitting a Lyra session?
Confirm who owns the insurer submission. Lyra’s published terms describe circumstances where Lyra or its subcontractor files it; a duplicate independent claim can confuse the same encounter.
Does Lyra require HJ on every EAP session?
A universal HJ requirement is not established by the public sources reviewed here. Follow the current provider agreement and authenticated billing instructions.
