ComPsych EAP Billing: Provider ResourceCenter and Payer ID 37363

By George Ruan • October 22, 2026

Public guidance reviewed October 22, 2026. US therapy-practice billing; documentation review, not a live claim submission.

ComPsych offers both EAP and other behavioral-health services. That distinction matters when a billing system finds an electronic “ComPsych” payer: a working connection does not tell you which benefit or case you are authorized to bill. Match the referral before choosing between the provider portal and a clearinghouse submission.

Sections

The documented provider-portal route

ComPsych’s Provider ResourceCenter supports logging claims, reviewing claim status, discharge information and referral end-date extensions. It also allows designated office users to view referrals and submit claims on a practice’s behalf. Provider ResourceCenter.

For a practice following that workflow, open the assigned referral and use the claim functions available for the authorized provider. If your biller lacks access, use the practice’s administration process to designate a user instead of sharing the clinician’s login. The public page establishes these capabilities; it does not publish every authenticated claim-screen field.

Where payer ID 37363 fits

Stedi lists ComPsych as primary payer ID 37363, with its own identifier YDIVO. It supports 837P/837I and enrollment-required 835 ERA, but not 270/271 or real-time 276/277. This establishes a clearinghouse connection; it does not establish that every ComPsych EAP referral should bypass ResourceCenter. Stedi ComPsych listing.

Before using EDI for an EAP case, confirm that the arrangement accepts it and obtain the required member/case identifier, authorization mapping and service coding. If the referral directs portal billing, follow that instruction. Do not send a second original through EDI just because you cannot immediately find the first portal submission.

Which CPT code and modifier should you use?

The public portal and directory pages reviewed here do not establish a universal ComPsych EAP CPT or HJ rule. Ask for the coding instructions attached to the referral and your agreement. Do not choose 99404, 90834 or a modifier simply because another EAP uses it.

If the portal asks for an authorized service selection rather than a free-text CPT field, preserve the exact selection on the submission record. If your EHR stores an internal code for tracking, make sure staff understand whether it is merely an accounting label or an actual value transmitted to ComPsych.

A useful pre-submission check

  • Identify the EAP case, employer benefit and authorized participant, rather than assuming ordinary medical insurance determines payment.

  • Match the rendering clinician and billing identity to the referral; check dates, visit balance and any extension before the next encounter.

  • Obtain the specific filing deadline, units or session-length requirements, closure obligations and any telehealth instructions. No universal deadline is established by the public sources used here.

  • Keep the completed claim, portal receipt and payment detail together. Use ResourceCenter status for the submitted bill before deciding whether a correction is required.

When the client needs treatment outside the EAP

ComPsych’s EAP consent distinguishes brief counseling from services beyond the program, which may involve health-plan coverage or client costs. That change needs a separate benefits and payment discussion; it is not a reason to bill the same EAP visit to both programs. ComPsych EAP informed consent.

Compare EAP networks or review authorization and session-limit checks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does payer ID 37363 prove that my ComPsych EAP claim should be sent by EDI?

No. It establishes the listed clearinghouse connection. Confirm EDI is the approved route for the actual EAP referral and obtain its required identifiers and coding.

Is HJ a universal ComPsych EAP requirement?

The public ComPsych sources reviewed here do not establish that rule. Use the referral and provider agreement rather than another program’s modifier pattern.

Sources and scope

Use the cited program and transaction-specific instructions with your current referral and agreement. Clearinghouse listings establish connectivity, not authorization or a guarantee of payment.
