Molina Illinois EFT Enrollment: ECHO’s No-Fee Route

By George Ruan • October 7, 2026

Last reviewed: October 7, 2026.

Molina Illinois pays through ECHO Health, and the no-fee way to get direct deposit is ECHO’s single-payer enrollment form naming only Molina. ECHO also markets an all-payer enrollment that carries a fee. Both use the ECHO name, so check which one you are signing before you submit bank details.

Molina’s Illinois payment memo distinguishes its no-fee Molina-only route from the optional all-payer service, and its Illinois ERA/EFT page points to the Molina-specific route. We have seen practices call ECHO to stop virtual cards and receive the all-payer offer by email in response.

What the Single-Payer Enrollment Needs

  1. The current ECHO form. ECHO now accepts only its updated Direct Payer Connection form. Name one payer per form: Molina Healthcare of Illinois, payer ID 20934.

  2. An ECHO draft number and its amount. ECHO authenticates the enrollment with the draft number and total payment amount from a prior ECHO payment, such as a virtual card notice or check stub. The amount must be the full draft total, not one claim. Molina’s supplemental guide says a recent ECHO draft from another payer can qualify if it identifies the same provider.

  3. EFT and ERA together. Molina’s 2026 Illinois provider manual says providers enrolled in EFT automatically receive ERA, so we select the combined EFT/ERA option on the form.

  4. The authorized signer and bank proof. The practice’s authorized representative signs. Use the practice’s legal name and tax ID exactly as they appear on Molina payments.

What Happens After You Submit

Signed forms go through ECHO’s secure ticket portal. In our submissions, ECHO has replied with a 7 to 10 business-day processing estimate and noted that enrollments needing extra validation can take longer. Things that have reset that clock for us:

  • A missing attachment. ECHO bounced a ticket because the signed form was not attached, and processing only began once it was.

  • A stale form. ECHO refused to complete an enrollment because the form’s date was more than 90 days old. A new form, signature, and payment reference were needed.

  • Identity verification. Some enrollments trigger an enhanced verification email asking the signer for a photo ID, a mobile phone, and a bank letter uploaded as a PDF. The link expires, so have those ready before starting it.

An automatic receipt is not activation. ECHO’s ticket acknowledgment only proves it received the request. If a written status request goes unanswered, call ECHO’s EDI team rather than sending the same email again.

Virtual Cards Keep Coming Until EFT Is Active

Expect more virtual cards while the enrollment is pending; one practice received two new Molina cards the same day its enrollment was submitted. You do not have to accept the card fee. For a specific card you have not processed, ECHO can reissue that payment as a paper check. Send the full card payment notice, including its remittance pages, with the request. ECHO has told us to allow 7 to 10 days for the check to reach the address on the original notice.

A new EFT preference does not convert cards already issued. Track each existing card separately, and see the ECHO and QuicRemit overview for the general card-fee picture.

Confirm the First Deposit

Once ECHO confirms activation, watch for the first Molina ACH and its ERA. If a paper check you were expecting never arrives, see Missing Insurance Check: Trace It Before Reissuing. If you have no ECHO payment reference at all, ECHO support is listed on Molina’s current ERA/EFT page at 888-834-3511.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Molina-only ECHO enrollment the same as all-payer enrollment?

No. The Molina-only route is the no-fee option Molina points to. The all-payer service is a separate ECHO product with its own fee terms.

What if I have no ECHO draft number?

Wait for the next Molina virtual card or check, which will carry one, or ask ECHO support which verification it will accept. Never borrow another practice’s payment.

Will EFT enrollment stop a virtual card I already received?

No. Ask ECHO to reissue that specific unprocessed card as a check, and keep it separate from the enrollment request.
