Does ProviDRs Care Credential Kansas LMSWs and LMLPs?
By Bomi Health • October 30, 2026
ProviDRs Care lists LMSWs and Licensed Master Level Psychologists (LMLPs) in the behavioral-health credentialing criteria linked from its current provider page. That supports considering these named credentials for network enrollment. It does not establish that every supervised therapy claim is payable, that an LMSW may practice independently, or that a supervisor’s NPI should replace the treating clinician’s.

What do the network criteria actually say?
Page 3 identifies education requirements for LMSWs, LPCs and LMLPs, among other behavioral-health credentials. It also requires compliance with the relevant state board’s licensing and clinical-experience rules. Its practice criteria expressly include outpatient therapy. Applicants still need individual credentialing review; appearing in an education list is not an approval or a promise of plan coverage.
The document’s labels need care: it groups LSCSW and LMSW under a clinical-social-worker heading, even though those Kansas credentials are not interchangeable. It also uses an inconsistent marriage-and-family-therapy abbreviation. Do not convert those labels into a new independent license or an eligibility rule for a differently named credential.
An LMSW listing does not authorize independent clinical practice
Kansas law separately limits private, independent clinical social work to qualifying specialist clinical or specialist social workers. The Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board describes an approved clinical-supervision training plan for an LMSW pursuing clinical licensure. A network application cannot waive those requirements. An LMSW should distinguish the ability to apply for participation from the legal conditions under which clinical services may be performed.
Likewise, the LMLP category in a network document does not itself resolve a psychologist’s permitted practice or supervision arrangement. Use the actual Kansas license and applicable board requirements; do not treat a master’s degree alone as an LMLP license.
What about students and the rendering NPI?
The reviewed criteria do not establish an unlicensed-student psychotherapy pathway. They also do not give a complete supervised-therapy claim instruction identifying whose NPI belongs in the rendering field or whether a modifier applies. Neither “bill under the supervisor” nor “bill independently under the associate” follows from this credentialing list.
Before submitting a claim, establish the treating clinician’s approved network status, lawful supervision arrangement, the member’s actual plan and the plan’s claim instructions. Network participation and a covered benefit are separate questions; an employer plan using a network may have its own coverage terms.
Which version supports this answer?
Reviewed October 30, 2026. ProviDRs Care’s live credentialing page links the practitioner criteria retained under a March 2022 upload path. That establishes a current public link, not a new 2026 policy effective date. A bounded search found no newer public replacement. This article describes the named enrollment criteria with their limitations, rather than certifying a complete current supervisory-billing protocol.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does ProviDRs Care list LMSWs for credentialing?
Yes, the currently linked criteria name LMSWs. That is an enrollment lead subject to review, state practice requirements and the member’s plan, not automatic reimbursement.
Does that make an LMSW an independently licensed clinical social worker?
No. Kansas law and board requirements govern clinical practice. The document’s grouping of LMSW and LSCSW does not make the credentials equivalent.
Should supervised therapy be billed with the supervisor’s NPI?
The reviewed credentialing sources do not establish that claim instruction. Confirm the actual plan’s rendering and supervision requirements before billing.
